Olivia and Andrew’s love story was a perfectly paced two-day celebration.
Day one started quietly in the apartment, with Olivia getting ready in the soft morning light. Their first look was on the balcony, overlooking the Minneapolis skyline, while family waited inside, pouring champagne. After a few drinks and shared stories, we made our way through the lobby and then to the Minneapolis City Hall.

Day two was all about celebrating at Axe Bridge Wine Co. More friends and family arrived, and their choreographed first dance set the tone for the night—elegant and intentional. As the sky dimmed, the space came alive with candlelight and laughter.
Later, I whisked them away for blue hour portraits—moody, a little magical. Just them, wrapped up in the moment.

Ultimately this is up to you! Courthouse weddings and elopements are just as meaningful as large weddings. I love the intimacy, the architecture in the city, and the slower paced day that comes along with a Minneapolis City Hall wedding. It’s also a financially friendly option.
Courthouse wedding locations in the Minneapolis & St Paul Area are the Hennepin Government Center, City Hall, Ramsey County, Minnesota Capitol Building & more. Many courthouses provide the option to wed there.
For a courthouse wedding in Minneapolis-St. Paul, choose a courthouse, schedule with a judge, apply for a $115 license as of 2025, and bring two witnesses and your license on the day.
Bring your marriage license, government-issued IDs, and any additional paperwork required by the courthouse.
You need at least two witnesses, aged 16 or older. The court can provide them if needed.
Most courthouses allow photography, but check specific policies in advance. I had to go through and xray with film unexpectedly, which added some extra minutes to unload & reload film.
Minnesota allows online-ordained officiants, but this would not be a courthouse ceremony, more of a classic elopement.
Typically, the ceremony lasts about 10-15 minutes, but plan extra time for check-in and paperwork.
